Probably timing and costs, but it finishes 2-1 to the Grecians
From what I've read, it was arranged pretty late. Hosting a friendly at SJP does take some organisation, especially during pre-season (as people will be on their holidays). Clive Pring may also want to avoid having the pitch used twice in four days before the season's started, too.Why not play it as a proper friendly? Would be better than some of the NL teams?
As g-n-h points out, this was probably an opportunity that wasn’t planned, but finding Southend were in the west country was too good to miss. MT has been clear about wanting home games at SJP so I am sure we would have done that if it had been possibleWhy not play it as a proper friendly? Would be better than some of the NL teams?
The very same. John's son.Just to confirm, the manager of Southend is the same Kevin Bond that played for us for 2 seasons 1992/93 and 1993/94?
