As a former trade unionist, we used to describe firms like yours as cheap and nasty. No offence. :)
It’s good to see that as the result of Government policy firms like yours are winding down their operations in the U.K. other firms are doing the opposite.
Just read this morning that 3000 jobs are set to be created by a Hollywood studio expanding in the U.K.
Swings and roundabouts.

We might be nasty but we certainly aren't cheap. We employ 60,000 people and make about $25bn a year.

Indeed - just because he's not put his wellies on and trooped about in the mud doesn't mean nothing's going on. The MP I'm friends with on FB whose constituency has been acutely affected has been very active in giving out information.

The Aussie PM found himself subject to tirades from locals when he visited during the fires.
To be fair Jason, Scott Morrison handled that really badly, and therefore got it in spades when he eventually got his arse in gear. He was truly incompetent in terms of providing resources to tackle the fires, he did eventually commit but it was way too late. If BJ is getting stuff done behind the scenes to help he is way ahead of Scott Morrison

But at least after several days holidaying in the sun he decided to come back eventually. Very good of him, really. The electorate will remember his kindness.

Politicians (even BJ) can’t win on this.
Don’t turn up to a disaster area and you supposedly don’t care. Do turn up and you get accused of using the situation for photo ops and interfering with the efforts of the emergency/environmental services etc.
If it's not possible to win then don't worry about winning : just do the right thing. If the right thing is to give support to those in the affected areas (for non-image reasons) then do it. If it's not necessary then don't.

A suspected far right wing terrorist murdered eight people today in Germany, seemingly of Turkish origin. Apparently he was a xenophobe and racist.
In the UK the police say the rise of the far right is the fastest growing terror threat.
This something the UK needs to be very careful about.

It’s looks the German police have a bigger job on in that regard.

Not as though Germany hasn't had problems with right wing idiots before, Ironically the main area for the right wing/nazi sympathies is in the old Communist DDR part of Germany where they still feel left behind and second class citizens even after 30 years since reunification

I would really recommend watching Ed Ball's travels in Euroland if it is still available on iPlayer. Yes, I know it's Ed Ball's but it gives a real balanced view on why more far right parties are gaining traction in some areas of European countries and how.

I did watch that and all those people said the same, The "Usual" politicians are not listening to them, Ignore their concerns then comes along a populist politican says he'll make a difference and they vote for him. It was a cracking programme and gave a real insight into ordinary European lives
