One for the local footballers who might remember him, former D&E referee Mike Turner died on 26th October. He was definitely one of the characters as far as th refs were concerned from my playing days.

Lord Bramell, D Day veteran who went on to become Chief of Defence staff and Field Marshal, During his time at the top he had the Falklands War to deal with. Much later falsely accused by that "Nick" in the VIP abuse scandal. Passed away aged 95

Dreadful episode.
Small comfort to his family that the fruit loop “Nick” was put away for a long time..Before Lord Bramell passed away.
The Met Plod & Watson should hang their heads in shame.
I know the police have to be more careful now and take allegations seriously but when they released the interview tapes after the conviction it just seemed so obvious he was a fantasist and completely untrustworthy.
I mean even if you knew nothing about the case and saw him being interviewed for the first time your first respond would not be "this man seems like a really reliable witness".
