Convenience?

I love landing at Exeter Airport and being sat at home 20 minutes later. So much easier than Bristol, Heathrow or God forbid Gatwick.

Speed?

50 mins from Exeter to London by plane. 2 hours 10 mins by train and 3.5 hrs by car.
Other airlines operate from Exeter, and quite often you pay a premium for flying from regional airports. It’s very rare that I book just a flight, there’s normally accommodation involved too so in that respect it’s generally the facilities and destination that are a priority to me rather than the airline.

I fly with Flybe from Manchester to the Isle of Man and back about 4 or 5 times a year, and never have a problem with them. I like Flybe - as an airline and because they’re our sponsor.

Yeah but you have to get out to the airport, park up, get to the terminal and check in ages beforehand. It’s not the same as jumping in your car, or jumping on a train.

Just one example: London to Amsterdam can now be done on the train in just under four hours, and as cheap as £39. As more sections of High Speed track are opened up across Europe, airlines are going to suffer.

I fly from Edinburgh down south at least half a dozen times a year and love Flybe. So much nicer than Easyjet or Ryanair. It also gives me a warm glow to know I am supporting our main sponsor and thereby the club.

Not much of an example. You can fly direct from Exeter in an hour and a half, if you’re going on you £39 train you have to spend double that getting to London in double the time it takes to fly to Amsterdam.

In fact, if you’re travelling from Exeter to Amsterdam then the example you give is pretty much as bad an example as you could have come up with.

Recently did Eurostar to Amsterdam. Excellent journey, glad I turned up an hour early as the train was packed. Delivered straight in to the heart of Amsterdam. The train went through through many tunnels which surprised me a bit as I though the country was supposed to be flat! Returned with BA, from Schiphol. Wow, what a huge airport, walked for miles to get to my gate! Then we were the furthest runway from the terminal.

I have tried to fly with Flybe, but not easy!
