The big powers have silenced me. So much for free
There's a huge debt crisis in Greece. Apparently they've got bills... they're multiplying. * *

Where to start ... time to put some figures into it so that you can feel properly aggrieved.

We have paid around a billion to bail out Greece the first time via the IMF contribution.

We have paid around £7bn to bail out Ireland

We are paying £7.7bn in foreign aid for 2011/12. This is out of a total of £500bn

The reason the UK is doing any or all of these things is self interest.

If Greece collapsed, it would pressure on other Euro economies such as Portugal and Ireland. Ireland is our 4th biggest market for our exports - If they collapse, we lose much more in trade.

We are supporting the remainder of the world as it is in our interest to do so - If we can build infrastructure and protect lives in these areas, then we can also sell them our goods and improve the world financial economy. Plus it is the right thing to do - even our poor live in comfort in comparison to many areas of Africa that are still living on $2-4 per day.

As for the ex-servicemen ... there is certainly enough money in the system through social services (£56 bn in 2011/12 for Welfare), charities etc to ensure that this doesnt happen. There are now very few "rough sleepers" as they are known in the trade and it is a sad fact that some people would rather choose to sleep rough than accept a bed in a hostel.

Apologies for the length in reply - but If you are going to get angry about millions, I felt it was time to make you aware that it was in fact billions ...

Greece does not deserve a single penny or cent of bailout money until it stops allowing its hairdressers to retire early at 50 on a full state pension because they work with dangerous chemical (ammonia). The same goes for their radio and television presenters, who are thought to be at risk from the bacteria on their microphones, and musicians playing wind instruments, who must contend with gastric reflux as they puff and blow.

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day...
Reminder to everyone that we are not giving the money away to Greece/Ireland et al. Loans earn interest.

If you're honestly saying that people without even the most basic of necessities for life are better off than an ex-serviceman who refuses the help he's offered then you're a short-sighted *****.

Ooooh steady on Spacko, a lot of them boys reject help because they have serious psychcological problems brought on by being sent to far of places to fight wars that are nothing to do with our national security, let's have a bit of respect for young men that did their duty and then got shat on by the politicians.

It's not our self interest Bill, it's the bank's self interest in the case of Greece, as regards Africa at least it keeps the sales of Mercs to despots going, foreign aid is an expensive, untargeted, jobs for the boys producing, waste of money.

These guys are people with balls and put themselves in danger to allow little faggots like you the chance to act like such a cretin. They are worth a million of the likes of you.

They really don't teach you guys a lot in Uni these days do they.

sorry dissapoint some of you but there far to many still on the streets of exeter , and all dont refuse places in hostels , when u in certain postions in life it somtimes better to stay out ofcthese places for reasons that are in the individuals best intrest , this subject alone is contreversial as it easy if you never been involved in this in any way to judge ,and yes there are some who annoy the hell out of passers by, but there plenty who keep them selves to them selves , which just adding to that you dont have to be homeless to be able to annoy someone ................... and by there very nature ex service men are proud people ..and we dont do enough for them ......

I am quite aware of why they refuse help but it doesn't really make my statement any less valid. People we give aid to are in a much worse situation.

Jay, how old are you, honestly? I'd expect calling anyone who disagrees with you a faggot from an early teenager, tops. Pathetic.
