Yorkshire's openers are out, but will Ballance do what England rejects like to do - score runs against us?

Very true Hound dog. Championship hopes could well now be in the Ballance.
(Sorry!)

At least Ballance has gone, as Yorks end day 1 on 70-3 .

With luck, the ball will be doing a bit tomorrow morning, especially in view of the 10.30 start.

It's a good job we solved our batting woes by signing a bowler. FFS.

But Abell and Hildreth steadying the ship taking the score from 4-2 to 107-2 (a handy lead of over 200 with 8 wkts and 2 1/2 days left to go)
Plus Craig Overton potentially back for the next game now he's not required for test duties?
(Oh, and Warwickshire bring up the 400 (for 6), really making Essex toil.)

Cidermen well-placed at tea, despite a late wicket. 191 for 4. Poor old Essex! :)

Meanwhile Cidermen progress to 244-5, a lead of 340 runs. What a difference a day makes eh ?
