I can understand that limited overs cricket is more exciting and less time-consuming than 3-day or 5-day cricket, and that cricket has to attract the punters in order to survive, but it's a pity that a by-product is the negative impact on batsmen's technique. The instinct developed within the modern cricketer is hit and hope, forsaking defensive skills.

Earlier rumour that Jos Buttler might be coming back to Somerset turns out to be wrong. Signed for three more years with Lancs.

See that the Cidermen have signed up Babar as their foreign player to play the next Championship match v Warks, (they will be without Azhar).

Good signing based on T20 form. Babar is class and Azhar has been disappointing.

Just as well as England calls = no show for the County.

Curate’s egg TBH Mr Hound. 2 overs for 4 runs outstanding and then 27 off 2 rather poor. As well as which no balling does my head in.

We (Woodbury & Newton St Cyres) won our T20 tournament at Cheriton Fitzpaine on sunday. Our mixed bag of players beat Exeter Erratics in the SF and then scraped past Yeoford in the final. We only had 3 first teamers (E division East) in our team and there were a couple of colts as well so it was a good effort. Yeoford seemed to have a few that Credy might know from Sandford including Shane Hawkins (?) who bashed us around a bit - luckily it was retire at 30 - but we got home with 3 balls to spare chasing 126.

Cracking day, good weather, BBQ and bar and 3 good close games of cricket. I didn't half ache yesterday morning mind!
