True but the pitch (used) has worn more
Let's hope there's a big day ahead for the Somerset spinners.

This pitch seems to have favoured the seamers to date but a worn pitch is likely to benefit any type of bowler.

Apparently there was quite a lot of rough for Crane to bowl into when he went round the wicket.

Did not seem to help him that much looking at his figures. He is bowling poorly at present though.

I see that, for the Hundred, Somerset and Gloucs will be affiliated to the Cardiff-based "Welsh Fire". Apparently research indicates that supporters in Somerset and the South-west are showing little interest. Not altogether a surprise.

Jug avoidance from Malan in our run-fest against Derbyshire, out for 199.

Zummerzet storm to a huge 313 run victory.

All over by lunchtime - rather glad I decided not to go now! :D

PS: Just need Notts last two wickets to hold off Essex for two whole sessions. #notholdingmybreath

Great win with maximum points to leave Cidermen 45 points clear of Hants in third place. Essex meanwhile crushed Notts and are now 15 points behind in second place.
Could go down to the wire with the last match of the season being Somerset v Essex at Taunton, a potential winner takes all encounter ?

Not sure if someone went over the Derby pitch with the heavy roller, but after 557/6 declared and 520, Derbyshire are now 44/4 in their second innings!

Now that would be a WONDERFUL climax for the, much maligned, REAL county championship - except that, since it wouldn't involve Middlesux and Sorrey the mainstream broadsheet media (and the Beeb) will almost certainly invoke it as justification for the abolition of nationwide multi-day cricket.

Only hope is that, if Essex is involved, Sky might still take an interest.
