Scummers also interested apparently in Olomola, as well as MK Dongs and Tranmere https://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/several-football-league-clubs-interested-3531366

For them to have longer contracts than summer 2021 would have meant handing them 3 year or longer contracts when they arrived. In practice it may mean that if we cannot get a fee for them by next summer then they will eventually leave for nothing.
You can always give them a new contract part way through an existing one

You can offer, but you cant force a player to sign.

Hopefully the relationship with player and club would mean they would sign, can get confusing when agent's are involved as well, could always slip in a Stockley clause for the agent and players benefit, and so that we can make money on our input into their development. But we have seen this happen with 'our own ' players Pym and JMT to mention just two in recent years

Absolutely spot on. And to illustrate one of your points is the difficulty in making money out of the most hyped youngsters at the club signed from elsewhere- Lewis Ward and Randell Williams. Both were signed aged 22, turn 23 this winter and will be 24 before 30 April next season.
This means both can walk for free as soon as their contract expires after the end of next season. For them to have longer contracts than summer 2021 would have meant handing them 3 year or longer contracts when they arrived. In practice it may mean that if we cannot get a fee for them by next summer then they will eventually leave for nothing.
Do we know Williams and/or Ward are only on 2 years contracts?

I think the assumption is that Randell is under the contract until the end of next season. I certainly haven't heard any suggestions that we need to cash in on him this January.

Interesting to know who the other player Martin is alluding to that could be on the move?

Still 7 weeks for the window to open and plenty of time for speculation, how about Lee Holmes to Torquay?

Also, didn't we have to give Watford a very high sell on percentage just to be able to sign him ? (50% ????)
