Doesn’t matter who you vote for, you’ll still get the government, etc, etc.

    It's breeding, innit?

Listening to Lord Heseltine (or even Major, Blair or Brown) speak does make you weep a bit for our political future. Far more impressive in every sense than the current crop of politicians.

Who'd have thought that by 2019 we'd be looking on the governments of Major and Brown as periods of relative stability?

I don’t think the quality of politicians has got materially worse, it’s more a case of our collective deference to them has decreased.

The fact that he stands to lose a fortune in EU subsidies has nothing to do with his viewpoint, of course.

I thought farmers weren't supposed to lose out on Brexit?

PS. Shouldn't you be down the pub celebrating your birthday?

I'm sure all farmers have a 300 million personal fortune to fall back on.

I thought nobody would be any worse off with Brexit – was that a lie?

    Who said that?

For me I said there may be some short term pain but in the medium to long term we'd be wondering what all the fuss was about.

Of course, the real lie is told by those who say "any form of Brexit will make us worse off" - when all the (seriously flawed) official figures say the economy would continue to grow, albeit they reckon not as quickly as without it.
