Standard of League 2 this season, Your thoughts

So after 46 games and a long nine months we have just come up a little short, Obviously losing JS in January was a massive blow but tbh the form he was in people were bound to look. Just looking at the final table you could of stayed up with as little as 42 points and Lincoln topped it with 85 points. What does everyone think of L2 this season, Standard Good, Poor or just about fair? Our form since January wasn't the best but we were in the play-off's for most of it (Except where it counted) Even when we lost there were no teams who really took advantage of it, Most teams could beat anyone, At the bottom it was a real scrap, To me i don't think the quality was there and most of the teams were much of a muchness. Looking at the teams that are or might be coming up or down will L2 next season be stronger?

Not sure about next year but we lost too many points to mediocre sides at home this season (Macclesfield, Northampton, Morecambe, Grimsby, Crawley).

Don't think League 2 is ever filled with 12 good teams all vying for promotion. There's only ever a handful per year (and even they tend to be beatable on the day). We weren't amongst them sadly. On paper Mansfield should win the playoffs but who knows? They may not even make the final.

As bad as every year. A pint and chance to catch up with your friends is why we go

Exactly, it's League Two which is probably about our level, time now to chill out and be thankful that we are in a better position than fans of Yeovil and Notts County, and not looking forward to an era outside of the football league

Or Wrexham, now having had 12 years outside the football league. Or all those former league sides who are not even in Conference National.

Bang average for the most part - apart from 2-3 decent teams the rest are at this level for that reason - the inconsistency of the teams in this league is ridiculous

Totally thankful we are where we are but things in football change very quickly, I can't imagine 12 month ago Notts County fans would have believed they would fall into non-league. L2 this year wasn't the best, Look at our form since January, I'm sure any other season with that form we'd mid to lower half, Seemed no one had the quality (Other than top few) to make a real fist of going up, Most teams were beating each other

Definitely a weaker league this year than previous. I can't remember the league being this weak since we dropped down from L1.

All the more disappointing that we didn't even make playoffs.

Some of our players did not perform to their expected standards over the course of the season. Notably: Jake Taylor, Pierce Sweeney, Troy Brown and Hiram Boateng. All these players are first down on the team sheet, however they have only a handful of goals between them and have put in far too many mediocre performances with only occasional glimpses of quality. To be fair Troy Brown seems to be completely injury prone and probably never got into a groove when he was available but nonetheless they all still need to show a lot more than they did this season. Very disappointing.

As for Aaron Martin and co, Taylor needs to decide what he actually wants. We can't have players like him not even making the bench. Complete waste of resources. That's Taylor's mistake and entirely on him to fix. Either play him or get rid.

Matt Taylor really loves Jake Taylor. Yesterday he talked about him being an ever-present and how he epitomises what he wants from a player.

Been the same for most of the 50 years I've been following City.
