Extraordinary scenes near the end of extra time when the Chelsea goalkeeper Arrizabalaga refused to be subbed and stayed on the pitch...with Sarri losing his rag on the touch line and walking off behind some boards himself before coming back....Chelsea didn’t get the hammering a lot of people were expecting finishing 0:0 and made a real game of it in the second half in fact I though they were a shade unlucky not to win it in 90 minutes.

Incredible scenes.

Sarri’s authority completely undermined. Shirley he will demand support from Abramovitch the count.........and resign when he does not get it.

Feel for Sarri..hopefully Chelsea will bomb out Arrizabalaga and he’ll never play for the club again!

Which is what should happen, but will it ? Chelski paid a record price for him, and he is on a SEVEN year contract. Could be a very, very, expensive mistake !

So where was the team captain ? He should have got involved and made sure the substitution happened. Imagine if John Terry had been on the pitch.

Chelsea have been a classless disrespectful club for years. This is just par for the course.

Both manager and player have come out with their opinions on the matter. Kepa was down with cramp, physio told Sarri to take him off, Kepa told the physio to tell Sarri he wasn't going off after Sarri already decided to put Caballero on because he thought Kepa was injured. Not a betrayal of managerial trust, just a breakdown in communication from Kepa, physio & Sarri. Move on.

Apparently it was all a misunderstanding if only Sarri’s body language said the same

Nevertheless, even if a communication breakdown, I wouldn't be surprised to see the FA step in with a charge of "bringing the game into disrepute" on Kepa. You can't let a precedent be set of players refusing to be subbed off, it could bring chaos throughout the entire football pyramid.
