How embarrasing, just realised I've selected 12 items, might have to bring on Gravy second half. See the meal very much in a 4 1 3 1 1 formation with parsnips very much in the heart of defence and Sprouts providing the thrust up front.

Sprouts are the breakfast of Beelzebub.

Pea and mint soup or prawn cocktail or smoked salmon to start.

Turkey, pigs in blankets, cauliflower cheese, swede, cheesy leeks, sprouts, carrots, glazed parsnips, roast potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce.

Summer fruit cheesecake and/or Christmas pud with runny cream, brandy sauce and clotted cream.

Mince pies with runny cream, brandy sauce and clotted cream.

Cheese and biscuits (not decided on the cheese yet but will include cheddar, blue, Stilton, Brie and some other runny type)

Coffee.

Then a sleep in front of the telly before it’s time for a cold meat supper.

Oh, nearly forgot, a few nibbles and cheeky canapés for the guests when they arrive. Hopefully that’ll keep everyone happy.

I know what you mean Fred but we need to pick up STURTZY’s rather nice pass with the lardon suggestion and develop the play. After the WOWS defence splitter I am only too pleased to return the favour.

Put the buggers into hot water and boil for about 3 minutes until they have started to soften but remain quite firm. Do not boil the poor sods to buggery. Drain the sproutage. Pan fry some lardons or pancetta and chopped chestnuts or other chopped nuts. Add the sprouts and bubble with some reduced vegetable stock and Riesling wine. Enjoy.

Or would you prefer some carrots ?
