1. In Dulci Jubilo - Mike Oldfield, beating out Greg Lake
2. Meh. Probably The Darkness I guess (did I ever say about the time I went out on the beer with them?)
3. I don't do guilt with music. I bl**dy LOVE Status Quo and Dire Straits, so there. Alright then, maybe the Popstars/Pop Idol/whatever ensemble butchering the John Lennon one a few years back (the year the large Scotch lass won) - horrible version, but I was (and am) so in love with one of the contestants from that edition that I'll happily sit through the video.
4. Meh.
5. Blimey, there's a few. I'd go mainly with ones that aren't Christmas songs but get lumped in just because they were in the charts in December. From that selection, probably Whitney Houston murdering the Dolly Parton song.

You go me on the alarm clock
1. Classic Bing and Bowie, The Little Drummer Boy
2. John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War is Over) - I'm claiming it as "modern" compared to Bing Crosby.
3. Slade - Merry Xmas Everyone, right good singalong tubthumper
4. It was a Christmas no.1 but not a Christmas song, Gary Jules - Mad World
5. Any of the rum old ****e that gets rolled out by whoever won X-Factor that year.

2. Favourite Modern - Gruff Rhys ; Post Apocalypse Christmas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js8JmTMU_gU
3. Guilty Christmas Pleasure - Paul McCartney ; Wonderful Christmas Time I do like cheese with my crackers
4. Not-really-a-Christmas-song but makes you feel festive. - Beach Boys ; Wouldn't It Be Nice A summer song but it's got a guitar intro that sounds tinselly and then a classic Christmassy shuffle on the keyboards.
5. Worst Christmas Song Ever - Cliff Richard ; Mistletoe and Wine 'shudder'

1. Favourite Oldie - Ella Fitzgerald's version of Sleigh Ride
2. Favourite Modern - (might also qualify as a Guilty Pleasure) Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree
3. Guilty Christmas Pleasure - 2 Become 1 I love the Spice Girls, me.
4. Not-really-a-Christmas-song but makes you feel festive - Gloria in excelsis Deo
5. Worst Christmas Song Ever - Stay Another Day makes me want to ingest razor blades, but it's not really a Christmas song. My vote therefore goes to Queen's Thank God It's Christmas, because it's an absolute dirge, and Queen should have been capable of writing a classic, anthemic Christmas song without too much bother.

p.s. Fairytale of New York is crap.
