I noticed this, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46287934,when I was perusing the BBC website this evening. It puts an interesting comparison on the value of former Premier League players against those of today. To give you some idea, the £15 million Newcastle paid out for Alan Shearer is the equivalent of them paying out £125 million today.

They'd be lucky to spend that much out in four seasons under Mike Ashley.

i know you like Newcastle United. Just to tell you that i was there to watch Newcastle v Bastia in the Fairs Cup around 1973. Johny Repp scored a scorcher for Bastia, who went on to win the game. Malcolm McDonald time.
