The start of the Matt Taylor era. Long may he reign.

Not too fussed about the result TBH, it's all about the intensity today. Hope we start as we mean to go on.

A warm and humid 20c. The sprinklers will definitely be on this afternoon the ground is rock hard, but the surface is looking good. There's a NNW west wind blowing gently around 2-3, but by early afternoon it seems likely to be hotter but less humid. There's currently 80% grey cloud cover, but that should burn off during the course of the morning. I might as well add that there's been no rainfall in the last 24 hours, not at the moment does there seem to be any sign of sustained rainfall unless there's a thunderstorm. Like lots of other people I'm looking forward to a new era with a manager who seems to tell it like it is. One final useless bit of news, The Victoria is now open again under its new management, but they're only taking cash, no cards. Update around 13:00

Sorry, but Iím very fussed about the result. Always want City to win, particularly first game of the season, at home and with so many changes on and off the pitch. 3-0 would do nicely....UTC. And MKD and Argyle to lose of course.

The E&E seem to be confused, one of their articles says:-

Carlisle United are the first team up for the Pilgrims, who will have home comforts for the opening weekend of the season.

The highlights show for UK residents is on a channel called Quest, which is supposed to be a free channel. Programme starts at 9pm.

I don't think I'm ever as nervous as the first game of the season. The last 15 minutes v Cambridge on the opening day last year seemed to take ages. I guess it's a step into the unknown with a new manager might have me that way (though Taylor is a great choice) . Thankfully I have 4 Grecians with me in Waterford to cheer or moan with. City are a good price at 13/10 (you can get 3/1 on Carlisle) . Stockley and a 2-1 win is 33/1 so worth a punt.
    Come on you Grecians.

It'll be too hot for those northerners down here. They'll struggle with the heat and burn out.
