Assuming we don't lose any of our best players IMO we need:

A right back (who also can release Sweeney to play centre back if needed)
A midfield dynamo a la James Dunne
An attacking midfielder who can dribble
A Steve Neville /Alan Beer type player in attack.

However, needing them and wanting/ having enough to pay for them are two different matters. We need to release unproductive players to balance the books.

Just throwing it out there, I don’t get the obsession with Sparkes. Whenever I’ve seen him he looked decent but not at a consistent & reliable league 2 level. I’m sure he could turn into a good player but I do believe there is such thing as playing a player too early. Maybe people disagree.

I'd also expect to see Hartridge and Archie Collins to feature more. A fit Ryan Brunt will be a great parter to Stockley.

Think we need an experienced midfield general type someone like Tommy Doc and Michael Doyle at Coventry.

No he won't be, Stockley either needs a mobile quick striker next to him or a creative front man, he doesn't need a bulky, slow unit next to him.

Brunt has never seemed slow to me on the occasions that I've seen him play.

He's as slow as Stockley and is never fit so bin him off.

Stockley has no pace at all and Brunt is far from quick, we don't need him and Simpson, if Brunt is 100% fit perhaps we should offer him the pre season as a trial period but no contract at this stage, he hasn't warranted one.

Stockley, Jay and two or three others is what we need, perhaps MacAlinden will be one of those, he could thrive under Taylor.

Lets hope Matt has the courage to make those tough decisions, irrespective that he personally knows the players try well.

Centre Mid, a playmaker, with some pace but technically superb.
Forward, strong, mobile, happy to ball at feet, works well in a two

We need to clear out the dead wood Seabourne, Woodman, Loft, Simpson, Jay (one goal in 20+ appearances)

Will be interesting to see what future Harley has post Tisdale, obviously Taylor knows him well and has seen what he is capable of, if he is going to have a future at ECFC he needs to play centrally, he's largely been wasted by Tisdale in recent times.
