From my earliest days watching City there was none harder than Jon Brown. Even Danny Bailey paled in comparison.

In RaWZ we trust....Amen.
When I first started going to SJP in 1971/72.Mike Balson was tough midfield player.

Clive Whitehead was probably the ultimate ‘hard man’ & would not last long on a pitch nowadays.
Best memories of Whitehead dishing it out,was at Wrexham,he had already caught Joey Jones(another loon) Jones dived in on the next tackle at Whitehead a real x rater,Whitehead jumped & missed the foot of Jones & caught Jones with his fist as he slid past him..:D...He was from a era when all teams had a hard man in the 60s to 80s.

Stan McEwan. John Delve was consider by some as a bit of a hard man. Jason, Danny Bailey never paled to anybody.

From a slightly earlier era
"Six Foot Two, Eyes of Blue"....Jimmy Giles is after you.
Aided and abetted in defence by Peter Hatch....looks of a choirboy, two footed tackles harder than an excited choirmaster.
Or, if you prefer sly midfield assassins...Graham Parker (and, no, that is NOT just a rumour)

Has to be Graham Parker for me. Always going to be one of the first on my team sheet.

I never saw Bailey tackle someone with such ferocity that they hurtled over the advertising hoardings as Brown managed to do to Marcus Gayle at Brentford* - the week after the infamous Torquay match with Garry Blissett's assault on John Uzzell (in which Gayle was also sent off). Same match Kevin Miller "accidentally" missed punching the ball from a cross and landed the punch squarely on Blissett's hooter instead.

This is not to play down Bailey's hardness at all, but I've not seen harder than Brown in a City shirt.

Indeed Billy.
Still remember a game at the old Elm Park back in the 70s.
City may have lost to Reading (4-1 I think), but GP scored one of the most memorable goals I've ever seen when GP scored our consolation with a (presumably unintended) diversion of a pile driver that looked to have been going wide.
Only time I've ever seen a player "burst the net" with a header!!! Even the ref and linos had to take a good minute or two to check that it had actually happened. And the "iron man" never even flinched.
