Hope that Jay doesn't get the kind of serious injury set back that Reid had, that was a massive factor in his failure to shine at City.

I was not really comparing their merits, rather their possibly similar fates. Both hugely promising but that promise not fulfilled, or at least not yet for Matt Jay. And of course STURTZ rightly mentions Jamie's serious injury problems.

That said, if only Matt Jay had Jamie's strength and power.

What a first touch this boy has. Top drawer stuff. I can see him becoming a Cureton type striker once he gets a full seasons experience under his belt.

I remember that game. The Watkins and Jay show that destroyed a half decent Chippenham side.

Tbf he’s looked very good lately and he was unlucky not to score on Saturday with a couple of decent efforts. He has a good touch and works very hard.

I’ve said for ages that he needs a good 10 starts in a row to really see how good he is and I hope he keeps his place alongside Stockley for the run in. If we’re in L2 next season I’d expect he would be a regular starter.

Great work from Jay on Saturday in the build up to Stockley's goal - from the angle on iFollow, it was a wonderful shot on the turn that their 'keeper did well to keep out. Also impressed me with his close control when the ball got played into him in the channels - he did well holding the ball up and keeping their full backs guessing. On that showing you can see why he's often described as being very skilled technically. More performances like that and he'll be hard to drop.

Our very own home grown Jamie Cureton?

Could develop into a lethal strikeforce alongside Stockers.

Of course he doesn't yet. He's played about 15 games and mostly from the bench. He has found himself in the right places but has snatched at them. Now he has scored his first goal I don't think it'll be long until he scores again given that he gets more time on the pitch.
