Watkins is a true athlete, fast, strong, with a good leap. Unfortunately Jay doesn't have these aspects and so solely has to rely on skill. To rely on skill alone without other attributes you need it in abundance.

Played very well in the little snippets of play he’s had this season..think he just needs that GOAL and he’ll really kick on then.

Totally agree and will be delighted for him when he does score.

Only seen him play a couple of times, as a forward. Couldn't fault his effort and commitment however he simply didn't look commitment to become an established first teamer in that position.

As an attacking midfielder with his ability to run with the ball, to use his lack of height to his advantage, logic would say it would suit our passing game, it seems he has more of an opportunity in that position.

Have not seen enough of him to decide but I fear he will be another Jamie Reid.

Needs more game time soon if he is to have a future with us.

Wasn't massively impressed in the Barnet game - loads of hard work but little end product.

Time will tell and good luck to the lad

Reminds me of when I used to watch football on channel 5 twenty years ago.

While I accept it's not inconceivable that Matt Jay will, ultimately, end up playing at the same level as Jamie, for me that's where the comparison ends.

With respect to Jamie, technically at least, MJ is in a different parish.
