IMO his (Jack Sparks) performances of late further bolsters his claim for a game or two in the first team (as a sub in the later stages of a game). His selection should I believe be based on performance and ability not necessarily his age, maturity on the pitch not in years being the measurement of suitability surely?

OMG another emphatic victory this time 5-1 against the plastics of Milton keynes. Still top with +20 goal difference what the first team would give for that and only two games left for them - away to Southend on Saturday and then home to Swindon the following week.

No doubt match report will follow shortly.

The only blot on the U18's landscape is Gillingham (who they have beaten) who have only lost once this season. Still a magnificent effort by the younguns

Hants: Can you provide any stats about the number of 1st team performances per season for the 1931 funded players in recent years? I think it's a really admirable fund but it seems to me that the funded players don't get many games. Can you put me right on that?

I wouldn’t expect 1931 players to make many appearances. The whole point of the fund was to provide Tis with the funds to sign a player that he might not have been able to stretch the budget to. I don’t mean for instance if Stockley was going to cost 120k but the club could only afford 100k then the 1931 fund would chip in with the rest, but for a fringe player, a punt that may turn out well but might be a bit of a gamble committing club funds to. That’s my understanding of the 1931 fund.
