Looks like another big hike in subscription to Sky & BT coming up...Perhaps some of the extra revenue dished out to clubs could be used to reduce admission prices ?..We all know the answer to that.. !!

I was lucky enough to get a free subscription for a year to the old 'Player' system a few years back and one of the main reasons for carrying it on as a paid thing was that, as someone with an interest in football beyond my own club, I could view others' content as well. I wonder whether the revenue sharing model has changed (I seem to recall hearing that under the old system the revenue generated was split fairly equally) - in which case you could understand the rationale for removing the ability to access content elsewhere; but I'm not sure I'll carry my monthly subs on for too much longer now.

Itv set to take the highlights contract apparently
That's a pain. I get BT Sports with my Virgin package. ITV are not the best at football highlights. Hopefully they will still be on at 9pm on the Saturday.

Sky retain rights in 600m five year deal.

Who's got the fta highlights though.

Anyone know how that figure compares to the previous deal?

30 million a year extra. So league 2 gets 2.4m per year extra or 200k per club

24 clubs with 2.4 million would mean 100k per club?

I typed the incorrect number and didn't notice. But happy to be corrected

    Crumbs from the table.

The Championship clubs get the lion's share of the EFL TV money. Currently I think the figures are:-

Basic award per club across the EFL from the TV deal:

    Championship - 2.084m
    League 1 - 677,000
    League 2 - 472,000

In addition the PL makes a "Solidarity payment" to EFL clubs, based on the third year parachute payment for relegated PL clubs (30%, 4.5% and 3.5% respectively):

    Championship - 4.3m
    League 1 - 645,000
    League 2 - 430,000

Still a lot more than we used to get before the current TV deal, IIRC.

The extra from the new contract will presumably be divided in the same proportions.

    The split is 80-12-8
