Recent work which entailed digging four metres deep to establish a sewer connection was carried out with an archaeologist present, as it was an area where it was anticipated that historical remains could be found, but nothing was discovered.
So the exact nature of Tisdale's original contract still remains a mystery then?

Tisdalus Maximus is believed to have first entered the city with Claudius in AD 46. After a while he succeeded Claudius and was elevated to god status by the Pretorian Guard stationed in Santa Sidwellus. His contract was then given as an offering to Mars. SPQEC!

I think this is where the bodies may have been buried in 1832 as a result of the cholera outbreak in Exeter.

Thought that was Bury Meadow....hence the name.

Perhaps Dr Dave could enlighten us?

According to the ECFC Bible of Messrs Golesworthy, Dykes and Wilson the old Grandstand was constructed in the summer of 1926 (following delays caused by the General Strike).

I suspect Maurice Goldsworthys declaration of 1926 was the accurate date. No way he'd have got his City facts wrong.
