Somerset's survival hopes boosted after today's win . All three championship contenders from 2016 have relegation concerns now.

Saw the Essex v Somerset 2nd day at Chelmsford a couple of weeks ago and was surprised that Essex won.

Who'd have thunk it. The mob from Chelmsford as Champions.

Getting very squeaky at the bottom. Surrey look like getting a 10th draw of the season, currently playing on a road. Need 1 win really from somewhere though to be sure.
Somerset climbing out of it with what looks like back to back wins. That leaves Yorkshire or Middx to go down with Birmingham, again who'd have thunk it.

Not sure that Middx are that impressed with playing at Uxbridge in September and having lost basically 2 days because of a muddy outfield. Maybe they should tell Lords to stuff it and build a new ground in, say, Ruislip.

Looks as if Somerset may save themselves with another pitch favouring the spinners.

Hampshire not yet out of the woods either in a situation where only Essex and Lancs are safe. The loss of playing time at Uxbridge may work to their advantage as the batting line up for the game with Middlesex is wafer thin with Bailey, Dawson, Vince, Rossouw, Carberry, Smith and McManus all unavailable for different reasons. An almost certain defeat without a significant loss of playing time. Poor fixture planning to be using an under equipped out ground in late season in Division 1 . Will the 2 points deduction for the slow over rate prove costly ?

A great achievement from the Essex team to win after just coming up.

Our reaction to that - "Oh, but but but our game was abandoned due to the archery arrow incident, we'd have made up the overs" was ridiculous - especially as we were batting late on the fourth day so wouldn't have bowled again in the match.

As I said on the Middx FB page, there's no point complaining when our over rate is generally hideous due to so much faffing. TRJ wasn't even playing in the Sorry match plus Ollie Rayner bowled more than 20 overs, so there was no excuse whatsoever.

Couldn't be tighter in the Division 1 relegation sitivation. Hope Somerset have built up enough momentum to get clear.

Squeaky bum at Lord's Jason ? 4 early wickets down and with Hampshire recovering from a poor start all the other R candidates to join a woeful Warwickshire in Div 2 next year are currently doing better than your lads.

Batting first on a green top in late September was a rather questionable decision. The ball is swinging round corners.

Sounded the same at the Ageas for the first 45 minutes against the very potent Essex attack.

Now settled, I hate to be my usual Jonah self but Voges and BBC News are doing OK.
