Mmm. 15 wickets in the day at Lords and Southampton, 11 at Leeds and 10 at the Oval. Looks like results in all 4 games, despite some rain forecast to move across on Thursday. The table could look very different on Friday afternoon.

Surrey need to bat big tomorrow, or at least to 350. A farewell 100 from the King would be helpful. They yet again demonstrated an inability to finish off a side although they'd have taken 269ao from 96-0; just not from 138-6!

Essex clearly been on the blue nun for the last few days. 33-5 off 24 overs ffs, with a top score of 8*

Agreed. 4 results (no draws) looks nailed on and a remarkable same look about all the first innings scores yesterday with very few batting points.

I would expect Yaarkshire to beat the abysmal Brummies and Hampshire had much the best of it at the Ageas. Essex could still get back into it as Hampshire have a poor record of knocking over the tail. But if Fidel Edwards is on form the tailenders may not fancy it much. From the commentary it sounded as if the Hampshire seamers were bowling really well, hence the funereal Essex run rate.

Middlesex slightly ahead at Lord's and pretty even at the Oval. Not sure how good the Somerset score is though. If they beat Surrey then Surrey could be well into the soft and smelly. With only 1 win they almost deserve to get the chop.

Why 2 games in Lundin at the same time ?

I'm sure Plod can manage the vast crowds.

Key will be what we do at the start of the session this morning - yesterday seemed to be the case that early doors it's a massive struggle but gets easier with time.

Very much as at Leeds and Southampton with early wickets and then a recovery. Only the Oval game going the other way with a good start from Somerset then a collapse, but then a revival.

That was a very important 8th wicket partnership from Ollie and Toby as 120 or so all out would possibly have been terminal. Looking forward to some commentary from Lord's as I drive up to Dorchester shortly.

I hadn't realised TRJ pulled up last night - he hasn't taken the field this morning. Ouch.

    Interesting day again.

Middlesex collapse to give Lancs a sniff and they have TRJ laid up, Essex take their Alka-Seltzer and are almost back at evens and Warwicks still in with a shout of making Yorkshire sweat but forecast not good 'oop North tomorrow.

Surrey possibly in the strongest position but only just, and eminently capable of losing 4-10 in the morning and frittering away the advantage given by another masterclass from Sangakara. All Hail the King.

Somerset now have to bat really well to avoid losing and Surrey will probably be out of relegation danger even if there is a draw.

Middlesex probably just favourites now to see off Lanky despite no TRJ.

An unwise decision yesterday by George Bailey to enforce the follow on has let Essex back in with a chance of setting Hampshire a difficult 4th innings target.

Brummies battling to set Yaarkshire a 4th innings target.

Somerset v Middlesex next week could be the key match.

Middlesex up to the giddy heights of 3rd place pro tem and it looks as if Somerset will have to beat them next week to stand any chance of staying up.
