THE PROPOSED NEW DEVELOPMENT AT ST JAMES PARK

- IT IS IMPORTANT THAT AS MANY FANS AND SUPPORTERS AS POSSIBLE ENGAGE WITH AND RESPOND TO THIS CONSULTATION PROCESS

Exeter City Football Club (ECFC) has recently launched development plans for part of St James Park. These plans, which are in the early stages of formulation, could provide a major enhancement to the spectator facilities at St James Park through the replacement of the Family Stand, new player and referee changing rooms and other potential improvements.

The plans also propose an enabling development of student accommodation on a part of the site. These plans will be undertaken in conjunction with a commercial partner, and will directly benefit the proposals being presented by ECFC.

These plans will help ECFC to meet a key element of its long-term vision as an outstanding community-owned Club. For example, ECFC’s Mission Statement outlines a range of practical objectives that support the overall Club Vision. These include ‘delivering viable financial performance’, 'developing first class capabilities’, both on and off the pitch and ‘to engage with our members, supporters and the wider community’.
As a supporter-owned club that is deeply invested in Exeter, its community and its residents, ECFC is committed to gathering the views and feedback of local residents, community groups and other stakeholders, as well as our supporter network itself. All of these valuable opinions will help us to inform the planning application that we will submit to Exeter City Council.

A public exhibition has been organised in order to allow you to view these emerging plans. At this event, you will also be able to put your questions to our team of specialist consultants and leave your feedback, which will help ECFC to form the eventual development proposals.

This exhibition has been split over two separate sessions in order to provide you with as much opportunity as possible to attend. These will be held on:

Friday 24th July 2.00pm – 7.00pm and
Saturday 25th July 10.00am – 1.00pm

You are warmly invited to these relaxed and family-friendly events, which will be held in The Grecian Lounge, Exeter City Football Club, St James Park, Stadium Way, Exeter EX4 6PX. There will be light refreshments provided.

If these dates are not convenient, a number of other ways are available for supporters, members of public, community groups and others to provide opinions and comments to the project team.

A purpose-built website has been set up to provide further information on the public consultation process, as well as design images and sketches as they emerge. Your feedback on the proposals can also be left on this website. This will be updated throughout the consultation process and is available at:

Pete – I assume there will be much more detailed information to view at these events, over and above what’s currently on the website? If you are able to outline what will be available, that would be helpful.

I think there will be more information, although I am not personally privy to what that might be. All I am doing is relaying the information on the invitation.

My guess is that what we will see will be the draft plans for a planning application so that modifications/alterations may then be made in the light of comments and feedback received to try to satisfy people in general (not just City fans) that it's worth supporting.

The other thing, of course, is that you should have the opportunity to ask specific questions of those who have been involved with the project thus far and who, hopefully, may have some of the answers.

Only if you're using one of the self-storage units.

Yes. Behind the Big Bank or in the Fountain Centre Car Park.

Quite impressed with the display today. The proposed new stand if approved is slightly longer than the present one but doesn't go back quite as far. It would extend closer to the away end corner flag and end on the big bank side pretty much where it does now. The intention I was told is to clear up the area where the porta cabins are so it doesn't look untidy. The potential view of the back of it looks good.

The away end will also be done if the plans for the full number of student blocks are approved. The planned covered terrace is similar to Barnet's one at there new ground and will occupy the space which is currently flat at the front of the current away end. The existing terracing would be dug away and the refreshment kiosks and toilets would occupy this space. Turnstiles would be on the left of the double gates from the outside, and again the intention is to tidy up the outside including the grass bank on the corner and rebuild the stone wall. Julian Tagg conceded our away end is the worst in the league and said he felt embarrassed walking down the road outside it so wants it to look better inside and out.

hopefully the plans will be passed and that the work can be carried out. Although it doesn't cover all the available space the new stand can be extended length ways if possible in future years and the away end can be taken apart and sold if later on we had the money to build a proper stand in that area. While it would be great if we could increase the capacity at least this will make the ground so much better inside and out. It's important as many people give feedback as possible so that the plans which are submitted are likely to get passed. Once the new stand was sorted I think it would be even more important to tidy up the away bit.
