Chesterfield v Exeter City Matchday Thread

Well i agree even though you are not sure. It would not be 'a bit of a go ' from the ref but decisions by him leading to penalties so why wouldn't the managers change their instructions accordingly ?

Can't agree with any one man determining our fortune. There is no one head and shoulders above the rest to do that. It will be how they blend as a unit which seems to have gone sour at the moment.

Fine but some of those points are generalisations , lets add to the specifics and i repeat the point that the yellow card is virtually useless to curtail these offences.

Chesterfield v Exeter City Matchday Thread

But i don't think issuing yellow cards is much use anyway in the context of the existing match. The match just carries on as if nothing happened with minimal or no disadvantage to the offending side. What we need is the sin bin for such offences as time wasting, pulling shirts, standing over the...

Or the wall between the two on top of which was barbed wire or was it glass embedded in mortar. Whichever a devil to climb over usually rewarded with cuts and abrasions not to mention torn clothing.

Future Train Travel To St James Park...........

Ridiculous idea ! Trains in the West Country are bad enough already without more heaped on the public. So if this happens it just means more congestion on the road rather than on the trains. The solution is clear put on the necessary trains to meet the forecast public demand as it arises. It's...

Exeter City v Heybridge Swifts (FA Cup R1) Matchday Thread

Actually Pete what i remember as a young boy was how Stiffle made his opposing full back seem like a carthorse as he flicked the ball past him one side and ran around his other side to gather the ball, not only once but numerous times.

Mansfield Town v Exeter City matchday thread

Why don't we take quick throw-ins whenever possible ? It means the nearest player taking the throw and others running into space giving less time for the opposition to regroup and close down our players.

    Jamie Reid

So long as he is not playing for us . Good luck to the lad but he has had his chance with us and was not up to scratch. 285 posts (this is the 286th) on Jamie Reid seems over the top for a relatively mediocre footballer.

But is there a possibility of a sell on clause in this type of transaction? I would have thought the tribunal merely fixes the fee not determines further monetary arrangements.

But Reid can't head the ball as he doesn't jump and trys to catch it on his chest more often than not from airborne balls ,either holding it and bringing others into play or laying it off to a runner. Stockley on the other hand wins a lot with his head and often succeeds in finding a colleague...

Exeter City v Port Vale - Official Matchday Thread

I don't know about the last 15 minutes but certainly bringing on substitutes with just a few minutes to go interrupts any momentum a side has gathered and diminishes the game as a spectacle.

Exeter City v Port Vale - Official Matchday Thread

I agree it is annoying when play is stopped in this way when a team is in a good position and the initiative is lost .As you say it's convention not anything the referee can insist upon. If the referee is unable to recognise the cheating it doesn't seem anything can be changed unfortunately.

Same rule but if play is stopped with one side in clear possession the practice nowadays is for an uncontested drop ball where the other side returns the ball to the ones holding the ball at the stoppage.

Exeter City v Port Vale - Official Matchday Thread

What a daft comment. One game from a very young player who i'm sure cares. Given the conditions and other performances around him from experienced professionals it is a pathetic post to single him out in this way.

Exeter City vs Luton Town matchday thread

For the first goal Woodman got beaten when normally i would have expected him to clear the ball whilst dropping - ok that happens but was compounded by James standing in no man's land and leaving the onrushing Luton player a simple pass into the net. Their second ,after a good punch from Pym...

Yes they are but if you look again he also moved forwards off his line which is not allowed.

Clearly he was but unfortunately this happens frequently and is ignored by the officials. No reason why the 4th official should not be charged to watch out specifically for this type of infringement - also encroachment into the area before the penalty is taken.
