It's all so terribly vague.

It goes back to the late 70's. Fouls, hacking, sendings off on the pitch, players scrapping in the tunnel, Gills players arrested and taken to Swindon nick. Re-ignites every so often. Frankly most of our yoof who sing "we hate Swindon and we hate Swindon..." have absolutely no idea why.
