If it remains overcast and play is on I'd put a tenner on Woakes to get him..

Sounds like an absolute stinker of a decision by Dar - as Aggers said, that is what DRS is for.

Maybe Smith will run out of partners

Dar used to be a very good umpire. Seems to have lost it a bit.

Gaffney made a howler later by all accounts.

Thank goodness for DRS.

That's what we thought at Edgbaston and he cobbled together 160 with Cummins and Lyon.

Will it be on in the Spot tomorrow?

Gaffney's one (I assume this is the LBW that was successfully overturned) didn't sound like a howler, but Dar's one sounded like it was going to hit middle stump.

Gaffney's one (Wade) pitched about 2 inches outside leg. Would have knocked all 3 out and Australia almost didn't review. Dar's was a shocker. Broad basically didn't appeal and just celebrated as it was as obviously out as if it had been nicked straight to 2nd slip. It would have hit the middle of middle stump, having pitched in line and hit in line.

Cricinfo commentary stated that the Wade LBW might have missed off stump as well as pitching clearly outside leg stump. Umps usually get the ones that pitch outside leg correct. Apologies to Gaffers if it was not a howler.

You can only think Dar thought there might have been an inside edge. Only seen brief replay so can't see if it clipped the back pad as well which could have produced two noises.
