The problem is that we don't seem to be able to control a game well if we only have 2 central midfielders. And if one of them attacks we only have one midfielder to cover any counter attack.
Plus, as has been said several times, our defense is a bit plodding. For the last couple of seasons our midfield often has been overrun.
The best teams attack in unison and defend in unison, but if our defenders move up they're a bit slow to get back
So with our current squad it looks like we have to play 4-5-1. But if we do that it means no game for Ajose, which is also problematic.
It's a bit of a rubric cube (cough, cough).

Still think our weakness is at fullback. If youve got fullbacks who can push up at the right time, wide players can come inside or make runs beyond the striker. Our fullbacks are a bit pedestrian on both sides. Better with Woody there. Would love the right new face in

This is because our best CM is being wasted out wide. Taylor and Collins lose the ball too often or are bypassed. IMO Playing Law in the middle with Martin on the left would allow us to dictate the play and have more of the ball which would ultimately provide more chances for Ajose and Bowman.

If we had attacking full backs then 3-5-2 would be another option, but we don't.

Both Taylor and Collins would be left out of a diamond type midfield of Atangana, Williams, Martin and Law.

Can't see it happening; maybe if we have lots of games like Saturday where both are ineffective at either protecting the defence or setting up attacks.

Yep, I think it's generally accepted that Sweeney needs genuine competition, and not something makeshift. And can't see any harm giving Sparkes a chance.

Doesn't deserve to start next game. Has no affect on the game whatsoever.

Got to say Ajose looks a waste of a shirt and a sizable wage atm. Doesn't look like he wants the ball.

See what I said on the matchday thread Sturtz. I followed a couple of the chaps that you stand with back to my car and they were on about how good Randall Williams is but he needs to get his service in earlier with more pace on it if we are to get the best out of Ajose.
