Hope you asked for no ice, to get your money's worth.

A good point made. Some establishments virtually fill the glass with bleeding ice. Meanwhile in Swindon's Toby Carvery the server (nearly said chef) has a Yorkshire pudding the size of Wales hovering over your plate before asking if you want one. I also notice that the spuds are now the first veg in line after the meat whereas it used to be the last. I wonder what the thinking is behind that.

Went to a couple in the Lakes last week for dinner, last one was the Royal Oak in Lindale (near Grange-over-Sands). The place, thanks to the best mixed grill I've ever been served, will live long in the memory!

Tonight, being home alone, I'm scheduled to be meeting up with my bezzie for a pint, no doubt at the Red Lion in Isleworth. Plenty to catch up on as he's been in Norn Iron the past two months accompanying the filming of his show for kids TV.

Egypt Mill in Nailsworth (home of Forest Green Rovers). A lovely old watermill hotel where we stayed for a few days while exploring the Cotswolds, great food and drink.
