In a meeting somewhere, some place...
May as well start a thread on this ...

Winner - one of State of Play, Kings John Castle or Mon Mome

Each Ways - Cloudy Lane, My Will, Maljimar, Palypso De Creek

First Faller - Priests Leap (fall from Grace)

Anyone else feel they can do any better ?

I started one under the G'day sport section.

Am tending to King John's Castle each way but 33/1 is not as appealing as I would like. Also Comply Or Die each way 20/1.

Exeter/Orient draw also looked good value ealier in the week especially 0-0 or 1-1. I think you collected on the Brentford draw.

Staplers are the new biscuits.
The last 10 winners have met the following criteria:
8 to 12 years old
handicap rating above 135 on the day
weight of 11 stone 5lb or under
won over at least three miles
run in at least ten chases
won a chase worth at least £17,000

I have had a convoluted bet of £10 on the winner carrying less than 11st 4lb with Ladbrokes, but it only works out at around 1/3.

Arbor Supreme 20/1 & Snowy Morning 14/1 for me.

Do your two choices meet all six conditions ?

Yes, but there are others that do. I think about 9 in all, but there are a few more things that narrow it down a bit more. I ended up looking at 2 sites, so it all got a tad involved/confusing.

If you're going to invest all that time doing that level of research, wouldn't you be better off betting on a race that doesn't have 40 horses and massive fences?

I know pretty much f all about horse racing, by the way.

It's the romantic in me - a chance of a decent price winner. You're quite right of course. Also the profit margin the bookies make on this race is a lot higher than normal (summat like 40% compared to a usual 10%).

Betting on the national is a lottery but if you're going to bung some money down then it has to be Nozic, red and white colours and one letter away from sharing a name with our Bertie [y]

Arbor Supreme is also No.31, so he's got my backing.
