Did I hear right that the "average" price for tickets will be £81?

Is going to be a good few years for sure.

Also a great few years to be in power - only one democratic Government has ever been voted out of power after an Olympic Games (in Canada after the mess that was Montreal in '76).

Add the Olympics to all the other events we're having, and whoever wins the next election should be licking their lips.

Do you not think that putting that lot on during the deepest and possibly the longest lasting recession of modern times might turn out to be a bit of an albatross around little Davey Cameron's Eton educated neck ?

Only if you think we won't have recovered in three years' time, and that once the events begin we won't enjoy a feelgood factor from them. Has a country ever regretted hosting a major sporting festival before?

Probably only Canada, as Montreal went bankrupt after they messed things up.

Right. So one then. And how many major sporting events have been held around the globe since then - including in Canada (Commonwealth Games at least once)?
