His spell at Middlesex a couple of years back transformed him.

Sorted his lifestyle out and gave up trying to play football part-time too ...

...consistently good for a few seasons now. Better than some of the jokers that get picked because of 'who' they play for ...

Talking of Middlesex, how's Dawid Malan getting on?

Bit up and down so far this season - like Middlesex! Has put together a couple of decent knocks, and has popped up with a few wickets with his occasional spin.

You want a man who has scored four List A fifties in the national side?

Actually, you're suggesting he plays as a bowler...?! Ahead of whom, and on what basis?

He averages 152 with the bat and 14.88 with the ball (17 wickets) so far this season ...

... I'd certainly put him in the squad ahead of Mascheranus ... and on the basis that Trego is just wicked.

So the "one swallow" theory. I am inclined to believe it is a statistical freak as his first-class figures are as moderate as ever... but I will be interested to take a look next time Somerset are on Sky.
