Points deduction for tottenham?

There's talk that Palacios may have been ineligible to play for Spurs yesterday. Apparently he had a two match ban carried over from Wigan. He missed the FA Cup defeat to Man Utd and the League win over Stoke. Turns out he played for Wigan against Spurs in the third round, so was cup tied for the FA Cup match and therefore his suspension should have carried over
is there a precedent for points deductions for ineligible players?

In light of the fact that Spurs gained no points in the league whilst Palacios should have been serving a suspension, one would suggest it is highly unlikely they will be hit with a points deduction. Possibly a fine if they are found to be wrong.

Remember this will not be Redknapp's fault

Points deductions? Hand the whole thing over to the Conference - they are the experts.
