Waterstones (on-line store).

I won't bore you with all the detail bcause I could write a book on my one and only experience of this company.

Basically I order 3 books in July with a £20 gift voucher. They cancelled one so I order a new one. They then want to charge me delivery because my new book wasn't over £15. My original order was, so the delivery charge was not applicable. It's not my fault they didn't have the book.

Told that all 3 books were not in stock and they would get delivery soon. 4 weeks later I progress the orders and they give me dates in September. A few weeks later they cancel 2 of the books - 9 weeks after I originally ordered them. I then write a letter of complaint. 2 days later they cancel my one remaining book. No repsonse to my letter (sent 1-2 weeks ago). My account is also £10 shy. So, I am down £10, no books and all orders cancelled.

The thing is, since I placed the orders I have actually seen these books in shops so it shouldn't be difficult to get their hands on them.

All this for £20, but it just goes to show what a pile of poo they are if 100% of my order has to be cancelled and it takes them 9-10 weeks to well me (in this modern age we live in). In all the years I have been buying from Play.com they always have the product, it is delivered free and is delivered in 3-5 days. My one and only complaint with them (in over one hundred purchases) was dealt with extremely promptly and I had a replacement DVD in less than a week.

Any one else want a moan?

At the Dawn til Dusk shop in Stoke Hill there's one woman who lets me read all the papers in the morning without buying them but there's also one that doesn't let me in the shop anymore 'cos I swore at a friend ..

The woman that lets you read all the newspapers is offering GOOD service. How long does it take you to read all the papers in the morning (without buying them)? About lunchtime? And your day job is?

I just got it. It took a few minutes, but I finally got it. Not intended, of course. I thought irony was like leady and coppery and couldn't see the link at first. I had to use a magic book of words and then the realisation. A very satisfying moment.
