Spotted in the Echo today that it's been reported we are interested in Alex Russell after his release from Bristol City. Also he has been linked with Turkey.

I'd love him to come to us, but i really can't see him dropping 2 leagues to us, let alone going into non league football. Plus with Berite about to sign on agian, do we need another central midfielder?

Any thoughts?......

He's getting on a bit, he's been 'farmed out' to Cheltenham lately, and of course played for Torquay before.

I'd be lukewarm about getting someone like him, let him add to Turkey's wage bill.

Class player, but surely not top of the priority list right now, unless Bertie moves on.

Not sure if its on Youtube or anything, but if it is, check out his goal for Cheltenham at Leeds this season. Blinder.

Would be a good signing, but midfiled looks pretty full, currently.

Obviously he's gonna go to Torquay again, even with the fact they have already bought in 4 new midfielders this week.

I would doubt it. He has gone on record as saying he is not prepared to drop into non league at this stage of his career. Admittedly this was when he was attached to a club and he may view things differently now but a midfield that contains two players with the quality to control a game with excellent passing (namely Russell and Harley) would be one certainly worth viewing.

Russell wouldn't fit into the Torquay team anyway at the moment. He is better suited to a team looking to pass the ball around and our style suits his game, and also from memory he was in the PFA team of the year last time he was in league 2.

great signing if it occured.

He would have to be prepared to tackle back more than Harley appears to want to.

Bit of an over-statement.
