Since the first time I saw Jamie play I thought that he had the ability to become a Football League player.

He has a natural talent that most players do not have but his progress appears to have slowed. This is not unusual when players get their first "proper" contract as many believe that they have made it.

I would like to see him receive specialist forward coaching to focus his natural ability and his mind on all aspects of his game.

Ian Holloway uses this type of coach by employing Gary Penrice on a part time basis and he was responsible for the likes of Nathan Ellington, Jason Roberts, Bobby Zamora, Jamie Cureton, Barry Hayles etc all improving their games and going on to play at a higher level.

I hope that this happens with Jamie Mackie as he has the talent and I would hate to see him become another frustrating statistic.

Im far from convinced....he was so poor last night for me...he must make way for Elam who keeps producing off the bench IMO.

Ive said it before and i'll say it again , bags of effort , bags of energy - no end product.

Caught on his heels last night so many times and his first touch was also poor. Also when someone kicks you on the ankle in the penalty box fall over for f*cks sake.

I agree and that was the reason for my post.

RIP to City's number nine. Sleep tight love
Sorry I have to agree with CREDY here. Watching last night he did nothing to convince me he could put the ball in the net!
If it was a one off I may not have dwelled on it but i seem to be thinking this alot.
here to be proved wrong!

So do you agree that some specialist coaching might help?

So are you saying give up on him and make him available to other clubs?

Most definitely anything that hepls improve a players game can only be good. My only worry is that he keeps making the wrong decision over and over again instead of learning from it. Hopefully any coaching he might get can change it.

I never knock anyone who gives as much effort as he does and i think everyone at the club would love to see him make a sucess of his career.

I agree, its time for Mackie to have 'a rest' and Elam to start a few matches.
