Next Up: Yeovil Town vs Exeter City

A win’s a win no matter how they come, and Tuesday night’s win over Stevenage courtesy of a scrappy goal from Dean Moxey means it’s five wins and two draws in all competitions for City. Lee Holmes was the one notable returnee on Tuesday, and Matt Taylor will have a decision to make as to whether he is up to two matches in five days, with Lee Martin or Jordan Tillson waiting in the wings to return should Taylor decide to ease Holmes back in more gently. Elsewhere Taylor may revert to one out and out striker with Jonathan Forte back on the bench, again Lee Martin being prime candidate to return.

Predicted to struggle, Yeovil started the season well with eye-catching away wins against Notts County (4-0) and high-flying Newport (6-0) but a run of one point from their last four games has seen Darren Way’s side drift back to mid-table obscurity. Home form has been an issue, with just one win so far, so Way will be trying desperately to arrest this poor run against local opposition. One time City trialist Alex Fisher heads the goalscoring charts with four, although three of those came in one match.

The sides have already met once this season at Huish Park in the Checkatrade Trophy, with City earning a bonus point for winning on penalties after a 0-0 draw – an improvement on last season in the same competition when Yeovil won 3-1, a scoreline they repeated in the corresponding league fixture – Gray and Zoko put Yeovil 2-0 up, Stockley reduced the arrears late on but any hopes of another epic comeback like that a couple of seasons back were dashed when Sam Surridge put the result beyond doubt. The return at the Park finished 0-0. The sides are level in league head to heads with three wins apiece, but betting people may back the draw as there have been six stalemates.
