Exeter City signed defender Dara O’Shea from West Bromwich Albion on a six-month loan deal. He follows in the footsteps of Kane Wilson and Kyle Edwards who spent last season with the Grecians. He was scholar of the year (2016/17) at the Hawthorns.

Dara, who joined the Baggies’ academy at under-16 level, spent last season on loan with Hereford gaining a great deal of experience in senior football, helping himself to seven goals as he won the club’s young player of the year award in what was a promotion season for the Bulls.

The 19-year-old has captained the Republic of Ireland at under-19 level and arrives at St James Park to improve manager Matt Taylor’s defensive options or the 2018/19 campaign.

On joining City, the central defender said:

I’m very excited. As soon as I heard that Exeter City were interested I couldn’t wait to come down here and meet the lads.

I wanted to come and play in the Football League, I think I’m ready for it and I want to show the fans and the lads that I’m ready for it.
