Wayne Carlisle Returns to Exeter

Former Grecian, Wayne Carlisle, has returned to the Exeter City on full-time basis, the Club has announced.

After Danny Butterfield’s departed to Southampton in mid-September, Wayne Carlisle joined City in a coaching capacity and that will see him help across the academy and the first team at the club.Wayne Carlisle

Wayne played for the Grecians between 2006 and 2008 and scored in both legs of the play-off semi-final victory over Torquay United as City got promoted back to the Football League.

Wayne had previously been working at Ivybridge Community College, as well as at Exeter City academy, but now joins the staff at the Cliff Hill training ground on a full-time basis.

Wayne Carlisle said on his appointment:-

I absolutely delighted to be back involved. It is a club I have great affection for. I moved to this area to join Exeter. That must have been 12 or 13 years ago and I had good times here, gaining promotion under Paul (Tisdale). I also have a good relationship with the staff here so I am delighted that Paul saw fit to bring me back in to be involved with the first team and across the club again.

I have been working in the academy for quite some time, supporting the youth players coming through and now delighted to be in and seeing a lot of those players progress into the first team and supporting them at the next level.

Andy Tillson will also be continuing as a first team coach indefinitely on a part-time basis.
