Exeter Get Brentford in League Cup 1st Round

The draw for the first round of the League Cup was made earlier today. It’ll will be known as the English Football League (EFL) Cup until a new sponsor is found, after Capital One ended their relationship.

Exeter have drawn the Championship side Brentford and the game will be played at St James park, probably on Tuesday 9th August.

While the two teams have met in the FA Cup and the Football Trophy a few times this will be the first time they’ve met in the League Cup (EFL Cup). The two team met in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in the 2010/11 season in the two legged area final, but it was Brentford that won through on aggregate to visit Wembley.
