Flybe’s Re-branding Means the End of the Stanno Plane

flybe_dash800_picExeter City’s sponsors have announced that the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 that has carried the name and picture of the late Adam Stansfield has been re-painted as part of its re-branding to the new purple livery.

The plane had been dedicated to the memory of Adam Stansfield in February 2011. Many Exeter City have had the privilege of travelling on the plane, and have commented at various times on exeweb.com.  In their statement Flybe have said:-

In February 2011, Flybe was proud to name one of its Q400 aircraft in memory of the late Exeter City striker, Adam Stansfield. However, we re-branded in April 2014 and the fleet is being re-painted with the new purple livery as and when an individual aircraft comes in for its major routine maintenance check, of which Adam’s aircraft has been one. We fully appreciate the disappointment that this decision might cause Adam’s family, Exeter City supporters and to the wider footballing world but sincerely hope that it will be understood.

Exeter City open the season against one of Adam Stansfield’s former sides, Yeovil Town on Saturday 8 August. There is an intention for supporters of each side to play a game on the morning of that match. More details of that game will be announced in due course.
