Keeper up for Channel Islands Rising Star Award

Guernsey born James Hamon has been nominated for the Channel Islands Rising Star Award.

The 19-year-old has now made 10 appearances in between the sticks for Exeter hamon_coventry_featCity, having made his debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie away to Coventry.

The awards ceremony will take place in Jersey’s Hotel de France on Thursday January 29th. However, Hamon won’t be able to attend due to footballing commitments.
Commenting on his nomination on the Guernsey FC website, James Hamon said:-

I’m over the moon to be nominated, it’s a great achievement. It’s something I didn’t expect so I was so surprised when I got the call through.james_hamon

I wouldn’t be in this situation if it wasn’t for GFC. Tony Vance and Steve Sharman mainly sorted it for me so I’m very thankful to them, and my dad also played a big part in getting me here.

I hope this is just the start. I want to keep pushing on and move my career on to even greater things.

Also in the final four for the Rising Star award are Jersey cricketer Jonty Jenner, England Saxons rugby player Will Kaye and Clem Thompson, who won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships.
