Exeter City Take Part in Neighbourhood Community Trust

Both Exeter City Football Club and the Supporters Trust have signed up as shareholders in the new Exeter St James Community Trust.

The new Community Trust has been set up to enable projects identified in the St york road triangleJames Neighbourhood Plan to be turned into reality. The first project to be addressed is the management and regeneration of Queen’s Crescent Garden.

The Football Club is situated at the heart of the area covered by the St James Forum. The Forum created the first urban Neighbourhood Plan in the country and now the St James Community Trust is the first corporate body set up to achieve projects identified in a neighbourhood plan.

Acting Chairman of Exeter City Football Club, Julian Tagg said:-

We are a community Football Club so it is important to support a key local community initiative like this. St James Park is our home so we feel a real association with the Forum. We wish the new Trust every good fortune and are delighted to be founding shareholders.

Laurence Overend, Chair of the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust added:-

Community is central to our work as a Supporters Trust. We will be encouraging our members to join the St James Community Trust and are very pleased to be corporate members ourselves.
