St James Park to Unveil New Floodlights for the Shrewsbury Game

New uprated floodlights have been installed at St James park in the last 2 weeks. Instead of purchasing floodlight_pic1brand new lights, the Club have been able to purchase used floodlights from Southampton football club. This purchase has saved a considerable amount of money, and has been met by the £12,000 raised by individuals and the Trust through the “Light up the Park” fund-raising initiative.

Snagging work has been completed by the Estate’s Team this week, and they’ll be ready for their first official use in the game against Shrewsbury Town on 22 November 2014.

The Club and Trust have said:-Floodlights doble

… like to thank all those who gave their time and money to make such a great success of this project.  Four supporters’ groups each gave over £1,200, with eight other groups, businesses and individuals giving over £200 each.  The rest was raised through bucket collections, small change moneyboxes, discos, raffles, quizzes, sale of memorabilia and the Brazil Day at St James Park.Floodlights old_grandstand

There will also be an unveiling of a ‘thank you’ plaque in Red Square in the presence of major donors, and a cheque presentation on the pitch at half-time at the Shrewsbury game.
