Ribeiro joins Grecians

Exeter City have signed right-back Christian Ribeiro on a free transfer. The 24 year-old is Paul Tisdale’s second summer signing after striker Graham Cummins joined last week.

Ribeiro began his career at Bristol City where he struggled to break into the first team. Loan spells at ribeiro_thumbStockport, Colchester, Carlisle and Scunthorpe followed, and it was the Iron who signed the twice-capped Welsh international permanently in 2012.

He was released last season after helping Scunthorpe to promotion and has been training with City for much of the summer, with Tisdale publicly stating his intention to sign the energetic wing-back. Ribeiro impressed in the pre-season friendly defeat to Torquay United and should neatly fill the right wing-back berth, a problematic position in Tisdale’s 3-5-2 formation this season.

City fans will have to wait to see the new number six in action, however. An injury means he is unlikely to play before September.
