Football League Impose Morecambe Fixture Change

The Exeter City fixture away to Morecambe has been moved to Sunday 26th October. No reason has been given by Morecambe for the need to make this change and it’s not one that the Club wanted, and won’t  make travelling Grecians happy either! Morecambe have tinkered with a number of their fixtures in either the day of the match or the kick off time.

‘Football should be played at 3pm on a Saturday’ is a maxim that many Exeter fans will be muttering as a number of fixture changes have been made.

The full statement from Exeter City says:-

Exeter City’s fixture to meet Morecambe at the Globe Arena has been rescheduled to Sunday 26th October 2014.morecambe_station

The fixture rearrangement has been imposed by the Football League, despite Exeter City not agreeing to the proposal to rearrange the fixture.  The Club had opposed the application to rearrange the fixture in writing, in part in consideration to our travelling supporters that have always represented Exeter City well at Morecambe.

This situation is not one that Exeter City have encountered previously, but the Club has had to accede to the wishes of the Football League.

The kick-off time for the fixture is still yet to be confirmed.

We will confirm on exeweb.com the kick off time, as soon as we know it.

It’s not yet been confirmed, but is looks like the away game at Accrington Stanley has been moved forward to the Friday night (28th November) and the away trip to Newport County has been put back one day to Sunday 16th November. The Newport game looks like its been moved due to Wales  playing Fiji at the Millennium Stadium.
