The Devon and Exeter Gazette reported on this day, Friday 27th May 1932, that the provisional fixtures for the 3rd Division had been released.
Exeter City would open the 1932/33 season at home to newly relegated Bristol City. With Christmas Day falling on a Sunday in 1932, then Saturday the Grecians would be home to Southend United; on the Monday they will visit Swindon; and they will receive Swindon at St James’s Park on the Tuesday.
On player news the Gazette reported that City had signed Scott, an outside-right from Northampton Town; and Ince, a goalkeeper, who had a trial at Liverpool last season. Clarke, right half-back, has re-signed, and Gray and Childs, of last season’s team, have accepted the Club’s terms for re-engagement. Other who have signed on again are Davies, Miller, Angus, Barber, Robinson, and Whitlow. Varco, like Purcell, has refused the terms, and has been given a free transfer. He has been engaged by Brighton and Hove Albion. Houghton has refused the terms offered him, and is said to be considering opening a business in Liverpool. Roberts has not yet accepted terms. Eddy Jones’s contract as trainer having expired, the Club is advertising the post.
