Micky Mellon Takes Over at Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town have announced that the 42-year-old Scotsman Micky Mellon has taken over as manager of the Shrews. Having let Graham Turned step aside and with Michael Jackson steering them through to relegation and back to League 2, the Club needed to make managerial changes. Mike Jackson and Danny Coyne will be assisting Mellon.

Mellon has played for Bristol City, Cork City, West Bromwich Albion, Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers, shrewsbury_town_featBurnley, Tranmere Rovers, Kidderminster Harriers, Witton Albion and Lancaster City. Plus his managerial career has taken in 5 years at the helm for Fleetwood Town and a short spell as caretaker manager at Barnsley.

On the appointment, Shrewsbury Town Chairman, Roland Wycherley, said:-

Andy Morrell and chief scout Clive Richards have left and the club would like to go on record with thanks for both of them for their hard work during their time with the club.
